If you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something about it.
Rep. John Lewis
Design a Better World is a website built around ideas in the book, "Make the World a Better Place: Design with Passion, Purpose, and Values". The purpose of both is to promote designs of all sorts that make the world a better place. The plan is to:
-
Identify designs that improve the world by reducing harm, increasing happiness and well-being, advancing knowledge and agency, promoting equality, addressing injustice, or building supportive relationships.
-
Disseminate information, through print or online media, on designs that improve the world.
-
Identify areas of need and post challenges for designs that improve the world.
-
Conduct classes, workshops, webinars, or give lectures that teach methods designers can use that make their designs more likely to have impact, to be adopted, and to have a positive impact on the world.
-
Facilitate the efforts of designers who are trying to make the world a better place.
-
Collaborate with organizations that have a similar purpose.
